Botox in Chevy Chase

Do you feel that frown lines and facial wrinkles are inevitable? Not in the 21st century because we have new and improved options that are effective.

A universe of products and treatments are available that promise to diminish frown lines and wrinkles, but among the most effective is the injection of neurotoxins.

The name BOTOX® has become synonymous with these treatments, but it is actually a brand name for a type of botulinum toxin type A, along with Dysport® and Xeomin®.

The Federal Food and Drug Administration has cleared all three for the temporary improvement of the glabellar lines, the frown lines between the eyebrows, sometimes called elevens.

While featuring the same active ingredient, BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin have slight differences in their constitution and viscosity, which allows a doctor to better customize your treatment.

For example, the FDA has approved BOTOX to improve the appearance of crow’s feet, and to date it is the only injectable cleared to treat “lateral canthal lines” or crow’s feet.

According to Chevy Chase, Maryland Dermatologist Rebecca Kazin, “The most common areas to be treated by neurotoxins include the creases between the eyebrows, forehead, and crow’s feet, but these drugs can also be used around the mouth, chin, and to lift eyebrows or the tip of the nose.”

Considered to be wonder drugs by many, neurotoxin treatments last between three and six months, depending upon the activity of your facial muscles and how much toxin was injected.

The good news is that, the more often you have the treatment, the longer your treatment will last. And when started at the beginning stages of aging, neurotoxins can help prevent deep wrinkles from setting in.

Effective in most people, neurotoxin results can be tailored to your specifications and results can be seen immediately. The procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes and is more affordable than many other aesthetic treatments.
